Speaking Truth to Power

I wanted to alert readers about a couple of opportunities to voice your opinions on budgetary issues.

*** County Budget: The Council is having a hearing on Tuesday, Sept 11th, and asking for input on the following questions:

  • Do you believe that the Council’s FY08 priorities require additional support in FY09?
  • Are there other areas that should have priority in FY09?
  • Are there areas that should have lower priority or where savings could be achieved?
  • Are there areas where the County could provide services more efficiently?
  • Do you have any further ideas about how the Council can most effectively undertake the priority-setting process for FY09?

Written comments may be sent to county.council@montgomerycountymd.gov

*** State Budget: A budget workshop will be held on Monday evening, September 10th, in Kensington. Eloise Foster, Secretary of Budget and Management will be leading it along with Senator Rich Madaleno (of District 18), and David Lublin, a government professor at AU.

Budget worksheets will be provided to attendees, and you’ll have the chance to propose your own solutions to the state fiscal crisis. Bring pencils and calculators.

Kensington Town Hall, 3710 Mitchell Street, 7:30 pm.

Here’s a great joke for you:

Did you hear about the guy who was shouting mathematical axioms at an electrical outlet? He was speaking truth to power! LOL

    Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  2. Zinzindor Says:

    Groan…

(Now how many people would conceive of “truth” as “mathematical axioms”?)

  3. Ron Says:

All right, I’ll ‘fess up: I got the joke from IMAO.
